Question 1

What exactly is DogUnity?

Accepted Answer

Fresh food for dogs. Real meat, vegetables and grains, cooked sous-vide, frozen in 16 oz packs and delivered to your door. It's your dog's complete daily diet, not a treat or a topper.

The recipes are chef-crafted for flavour and formulated with a veterinary nutritionist to meet AAFCO nutrient levels.

Question 2

How is this different from kibble?

Accepted Answer

Kibble is cooked at high heat and pressed into a dry pellet — that's how it survives a year in a bag. Ours is different: we use sous-vide, a gentler method that cooks at low, precise temperatures, then freezes fresh — so it keeps without preservatives, and without losing what makes it nutritious. In practice, that means more protein retained, ingredients you can recognize by name, no artificial preservatives, and far more moisture than dry food provides.

Question 3

Is it complete and balanced?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Both Chicken & Rice and Beef & Quinoa are formulated to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO Dog Food Nutrient Profiles for all life stages. You can feed either one as your dog's entire diet with nothing added. The exception is our Chicken Bone Broth, which is intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding. It's a topper, not a meal.

Question 4

What's in the recipes?

Accepted Answer

DogUnity Chicken & Rice: Chicken, Rice, Carrots, Beef Liver, Pumpkin, Apples, Blueberries, Tricalcium Phosphate, Dried Mussels, Minerals (Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Sodium Selenite, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate), Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Cholecalciferol, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid), Salt, Dried Kelp, Dried Pediococcus acidilactici Fermentation Product.DogUnity Beef & Quinoa: Beef, Quinoa, Oats, Carrots, Beef Liver, Pumpkin, Spinach, Salt, Tricalcium Phosphate, Dried Mussels, Minerals (Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, Sodium Selenite, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate), Vitamins (Vitamin E Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Cholecalciferol, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Folic Acid), Dried Kelp, Dried Pediococcus acidilactici Fermentation Product. That's the full list. No fillers, no artificial colours or preservatives. See the guaranteed analysis for each recipe →

Question 5

Is it really human-grade?

Accepted Answer

The ingredients are. Every one of them meets the same quality standard as food you'd eat yourself, which is why the ingredient list reads the way it does. The finished packs are made and labelled as dog food, so DogUnity is not for human consumption.

Question 6

How is it cooked?

Accepted Answer

Sous-vide: sealed, then slow-cooked at a low and precisely held temperature. It's gentler than the high-heat processing kibble goes through, and it still cooks the food fully. The packs are frozen straight after cooking, which is how they keep without preservatives.

Question 7

Do chefs cook my dog's food?

Accepted Answer

Chefs created the recipes. They chose the ingredients and built the dishes. The cooking happens at a facility that makes food for pets and nothing else, which is where you want it done: sous-vide, at controlled temperatures, under commercial food-safety controls.

Question 8

Is DogUnity high in protein?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Both recipes are built on animal protein to support lean muscle and energy, and both carry a guaranteed protein minimum on the label. The full guaranteed analysis is on the recipe pages →

Question 9

What are postbiotics, and why are they in there?

Accepted Answer

Both recipes contain postbiotics, listed on the label as dried Pediococcus acidilactici fermentation product. They're included for two reasons: they support digestibility, meaning how much of the meal your dog absorbs, and they improve palatability, which helps when you're moving a fussy dog onto something new.

Question 10

Where is it made?

Accepted Answer

DogUnity is made in line with FDA and USDA food-safety requirements and under SQF-certified food-safety standards.

Question 11

What recipes are there?

Accepted Answer

Three products today. Chicken & Rice and Beef & Quinoa are complete meals formulated to AAFCO levels for all life stages. Chicken Bone Broth is a topper for intermittent or supplemental feeding.More recipes are on the way, and you'll be able to add them to your dog's plan as they launch.

Question 12

How much should I feed my dog?

Accepted Answer

It depends on calories rather than cups. A normally active 40 lb adult dog needs roughly 1,000 calories a day, which is about 1¾ packs of Chicken & Rice or 1½ packs of Beef & Quinoa. Beef is more calorie-dense, so the portion is smaller.See the full feeding table by weight → If your dog is on a plan, we've already done this using their age, activity and weight, and the amount is on your account.

Question 13

How do I switch from my dog's current food?

Accepted Answer

Gradually, over 10 to 14 days. This is the one instruction to follow closely. Your dog's system is used to what it's been eating, particularly if that's dry kibble, and fresh food is richer and more digestible. Moving too quickly is what upsets stomachs.Days 1–4: 25% DogUnity, 75% their current foodDays 5–9: 50% DogUnityDays 10–14: 100% DogUnityTake longer if your dog needs it. We send a transition plan with your first delivery based on what they're eating now, and following it usually keeps the switch uneventful.

Question 14

My dog got loose stools after switching. What now?

Accepted Answer

This is common, and it usually means the switch moved a little quickly. Go back a step. Hold at the last mix your dog was comfortable with for a few more days, then increase in smaller amounts. Some dogs do better taking two weeks over it.If it doesn't settle, or your dog seems unwell in any other way, check with your vet. Let us know too, because we can adjust the plan.

Question 15

Can I use it as a topper instead of full meals?

Accepted Answer

You can, and it's a good way to introduce fresh food. Count it as calories and reduce the other food to match, so your dog isn't eating two dinners.Feeding DogUnity as the full meal is what gives your dog the complete, balanced diet the recipes were built for.

Question 16

Can puppies eat DogUnity?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Both recipes are formulated for all life stages, which includes growth. What changes is the amount: growing puppies need considerably more food per pound of bodyweight than adults, so don't use the adult feeding table for them. Tell us their age in the quiz and we'll size it properly.

Question 17

My dog has allergies or an intolerance. Can DogUnity work?

Accepted Answer

Often, yes. Short ingredient lists make it easier to avoid a known trigger, and you can feed one recipe exclusively. A dog who reacts to chicken can eat Beef & Quinoa only, and the reverse also works.Tell us in the quiz what your dog can't have and we'll build the plan around it. For a diagnosed food allergy, check the ingredient list against your vet's advice before you start.

Question 18

Can I feed both recipes?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and most dogs enjoy the variety. Feed one recipe per meal rather than splitting a meal across two packs, since the right amount differs between them. Your plan can include both.

Question 19

How do I store it, and how long does it keep?

Accepted Answer

Packs arrive frozen and should go straight into your freezer, where they keep for up to a year. There are no preservatives in the food, so frozen is how it's meant to be stored.Once you open a pack, keep it in the fridge and finish it within 3 days.

Question 20

How long does it take to thaw?

Accepted Answer

Move a pack from the freezer to the fridge the night before you need it, so 16 to 24 hours. Twelve isn't quite enough and you'll still find ice in the middle. Thaw it in the fridge rather than on the counter or in the microwave. The easy habit is to move the next pack down whenever you open one.

Question 21

Should I serve it cold?

Accepted Answer

Most dogs are happy with it straight from the fridge, and that's the simplest way to serve it. If yours turns their nose up at cold food, leave the portion out for 10 to 15 minutes to take the chill off.Avoid serving it frozen or part-frozen: thaw it in the fridge first.

Question 22

Do I need a lot of freezer space?

Accepted Answer

Enough for one delivery, which depends on your dog's size. A small dog's box fits in a drawer and a large dog's needs a proper shelf. Clear the space before your first delivery arrives so you're not rearranging on the doorstep.

Question 23

My box arrived and the packs felt soft. Is that a problem?

Accepted Answer

Usually not. Boxes travel with dry ice inside an insulated liner, and packs that are still cold and firm are fine. Put them in the freezer and carry on.If anything arrived genuinely warm, don't serve it. Get in touch and we'll replace it.

Question 24

How does delivery work?

Accepted Answer

Your dog's food is packed frozen with dry ice inside an insulated liner and shipped express, so it arrives still frozen. We'll tell you the week your box is arriving and give you a heads-up before it ships. You don't need to be home. Leave it somewhere shaded and move the packs to the freezer when you get to them.Handle any dry ice left in the box with a towel rather than bare hands, and let it evaporate somewhere ventilated.

Question 25

Do you deliver to me?

Accepted Answer

We're opening market by market. The quickest way to find out is to enter your ZIP code at the start of the quiz.If we're not in your area yet, leave your email and we'll tell you when we are.

Question 26

How often will boxes arrive?

Accepted Answer

Your first delivery covers 14 days and is portioned for your dog, so you can both see how it goes before settling into a rhythm. After that it becomes a recurring 28-day delivery: four weeks of food at a time, sized to your dog's portions.

Question 27

Can I change when my box arrives?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Move a delivery earlier or later, or skip it, from your account. Useful if you're travelling or your freezer is still full. Make the change before the box is made and we'll shift the schedule with it.

Question 28

How does the plan work?

Accepted Answer

You answer a short quiz about your dog covering weight, age, activity level and preferences. We work out how much food they need, turn that into portions, and build the delivery around it. Nothing for you to weigh or calculate.Your first delivery is 14 days of food portioned for your dog. After that it becomes a recurring 28-day delivery. Update their weight whenever it changes and the portions follow.

Question 29

What if the portion isn't quite right for my dog?

Accepted Answer

We'll fine-tune it. Dogs vary, and two 50 lb dogs of the same age can burn noticeably different amounts, so the first few weeks are partly about learning yours. That's one reason your first delivery is 14 days rather than a month. If your dog is gaining or losing weight you didn't intend, tell us or nudge the amount by a quarter pack and we'll adjust the plan.

Question 30

How much does it cost?

Accepted Answer

It depends mostly on your dog's size, because a bigger dog eats more food. You'll see your dog's exact price at the end of the quiz, before you enter any payment details, and it won't change unless you change the plan.CookUnity customers get 10% off, forever. It isn't an intro rate. It applies to every delivery for as long as your plan runs, and we apply it automatically.

Question 31

When am I charged?

Accepted Answer

Each delivery is paid for shortly before it's made. We always email you ahead of your dog's next box, so you have a window to change recipes, adjust the amount, push the date back or skip it.

Question 32

Can I skip, pause or cancel?

Accepted Answer

All three, from your account. There's no contract and no minimum number of deliveries. Skip one, pause for as long as you like, or cancel whenever you want. Make the change before your next box is made and we'll remind you when that date is coming up.

Question 33

What if my dog doesn't like it?

Accepted Answer

Get in touch, because it's usually fixable. Most often the transition moved a bit fast, or it's the wrong recipe for them. We can slow the switch down or swap the protein. If fresh food turns out not to suit your dog, you can cancel any time.

Question 34

Can I change recipes or portions later?

Accepted Answer

Any time, from your account. Swap between Chicken & Rice and Beef & Quinoa, add the bone broth, or update your dog's weight and let the portions recalculate. If you have more than one dog, each gets their own portion inside the same delivery.

Question 35

How are DogUnity and CookUnity related?

Accepted Answer

They're separate brands. CookUnity delivers chef-made meals for people. DogUnity makes fresh food for dogs. What connects them is where the idea came from. CookUnity was built on the belief that everyone deserves meals made by world-class chefs. Those chefs are dog owners too, and when they looked at what was in their own dogs' bowls they found fillers and ingredients they couldn't identify. Nobody had asked what a world-class chef would feed their own dog, so they started cooking for the last member of the family. If you're a CookUnity customer, you get 10% off your DogUnity subscription for as long as it runs.

Question 36

I bought DogUnity from my CookUnity menu. Is it the same food?

Accepted Answer

The same food. What differs is how it comes: from your CookUnity menu you buy a set quantity as a one-off, and it ships separately from your meals rather than in the same box. What you don't get that way is personalisation. Those packs aren't portioned for your dog, and the quantity doesn't adjust to them. Use the feeding guide to work out roughly how much to serve →

Question 37

Why subscribe here if I can buy it from my CookUnity menu?

Accepted Answer

Three reasons. The portions are calculated for your dog instead of estimated by you. The food arrives on a 28-day rhythm, so you don't run out. And the 10% customer discount applies to every delivery, which a one-off menu purchase doesn't carry.Your CookUnity subscription isn't affected either way, and you can keep adding DogUnity from your menu whenever you like.

Question 38

Do I need a separate account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your dog's plan lives here on dogunity.com, so you'll set up an account for it. Your CookUnity account and deliveries carry on as they are.
